Utility / Great Dane Chain Securement Point

  • All chains should be hooked around the spools on the trailer and hooked back into itself in a teardrop fashion.
  • Do not chain or hook to the stake pockets or rails on trailers.
  • Do not hook chains or binders onto the stake pockets or rails on the trailers.
  • Do not teardrop chains around the stake pockets on trailers.

Rails and pockets on the trailers in our fleet are not designed to have chains attached at these points. Chaining or hooking binders to anything other than the spools between the stake pockets can result in failure of the tie-down point.

Utility / Great Dane Strap Securement Point

  • All straps should be under the rub rail on both sides of the trailer.
  • Straps should be hooked to the bottom flange or lip of the rub rail as shown in the above photograph.
  • Do not hook straps to the rub rails of the trailer.

The trailers in our fleet are not designed to have the rub rails used as a securement point for straps. Straps can put enough pressure on the aluminum rails to damage them.

East Trailer Strap Securement Point

  • Some East trailers have aluminum brackets that the strap hook slides into.
  • The brackets will slide on the trailer rail also.
  • Hold the strap hook straight up and down and slide it in from left to right or right to left.
