- Coils typically weigh less than 20,000 lbs. and can either be loaded on dunnage provided by the driver or loaded on skids or pallets provided by the shipper.
- Chains should be used for securement unless specifically prohibited by the shipper.
- Chains should always be crossed in an X pattern over the tops of the coils
- Chains on the forward side of the coil should attach to the trailer 12-18 inches in front of the edge of the coil to prevent forward motion.
- All eye-to-the-sky coils must have a trip or toe strap or chain around the front to prevent forward motion.
